CHARLESTON — Bishop Robert J. Baker has appointed Maria A. Aselage of Charleston as the new director of the Office of Communications and Information for the Diocese of Charleston.
Aselage comes to the diocese from The Citadel where she was assistant director of The Center for International and Regional Development where she taught communications skills to students. She is a former anchor/reporter at WCIV-TV Channel 4 in Charleston where she received several awards for investigative reporting from the Associated Press and the Radio Television News Directors’ Association.
“I am focused on providing a positive image of the Catholic Church in South Carolina,” Aselage said. “I’m looking forward to the challenging, yet extremely rewarding work ahead.”
Aselage is a 1991 graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in communications.
She is a member of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.
