SCCCW working with new deanery

WALTERBORO — The South Carolina Council of Catholic Women’s governing board held an information session for women of the new Lowcountry Deanery Oct. 25 at St. Anthony Church.

This initial session was the first of what is hoped will be an active deanery in the state-wide organization. Board members explained the purpose and the organizational structure of the council, which unites Catholic women to give witness for the church and provide support in a variety of outreaches.

Fourteen women attended and most came from already established women’s groups in their own churches.

Ann Mitchum, Coastal Deanery president, lauded the group for keeping the faith alive in that part of the state.

“We want you all to succeed; you are our sisters and our family, ” she said.

The deanery includes churches in Walterboro, Bluffton, Hilton Head Island, Ridgeville, Hardeeville, Beaufort, and St. Helena Island.
