CHARLESTON — The local CBS affiliate television station honored Msgr. Joseph R. Roth, vicar general, recently. He was selected as a member of the Live 5 Hall of Fame, for people who contribute to their community.
Bill Sharpe, anchorman, surprised Msgr. Roth with television cameras at the chancery offices, presented him with a special pin and interviewed him for the news. He was nominated at the suggestion of Father Titus Fulcher, special assistant to the bishop, for his service as a longtime chaplain for the South Carolina State Firefighters Association.
The association recently honored the pastor of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist with a plaque for his ordination anniversary and thanked him for his 22 years of outstanding service with the firefighters.
Msgr. Roth has been a priest for 26 years.
In praising the pastor, Father Fulcher said that he was his role model and was a “humble, caring, loving priest who preaches the Gospel of love.”
