Dominican Sister Mary LequierADRIAN, Mich.—Sister Mary Lequier, formerly known as Sister Anne Immaculate Lequier, of the Adrian Dominican Congregation, died on Dec. 5 at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She was 73.

The funeral was held Dec. 8 at St. Catherine. Burial was in the congregation cemetery.

Sister Mary was born in Detroit to Joseph and Mary Boka Lequier. She graduated from St. Mary High School in Royal Oak, Mich., and from Siena Heights College in Adrian.

Sister Mary spent 19 years working in education in Medina, Ohio; and in Utica, Owosso, Jackson and Lansing, Mich. She was principal of St. Paul School in Owosso for 10 years and at Queen of the Miraculous Medal School in Jackson for two. She was Credit Union Manager at Christo Rey Community Center in Lansing from 1972-1973.

From 1977 to 2009, Sister Mary worked in South Carolina. She was a pastoral minister in parishes in Charleston and Ridgeville. In 2007 she became retreat director of the Sea of Peace House of Prayer on Edisto Island.

She became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian in 2009.

Sister Mary is survived by four brothers: David Lequier of Royal Oak; George Lequier of Chiefland, Fla.; Thomas Lequier of Rochester Hills; and Robert Lequier of Houghton Lake.
