Student writes play, SCS cares carnival

It’s  curtains for Jack

COLUMBIA—The curtain rose last week for Jack Curtin when the Cardinal Newman sophomore wrote and directed his own play. Titled “JP: The Musical!” it was a farcical mystery featuring Sean Connery, a good old boy named Ham, and about two dozen ravenous dinosaurs.

Life’s a carnival

SUMMERVILLE—The eighth-graders at Summerville Catholic School hosted a Kids Care Carnival recently and raised $960. With graduation just around the corner, the students wanted to celebrate and give back to their school community.

They organized and worked more than 15 game booths to raise money for charity and the school’s Erin Kelly Scholarship Fund.

Children raced around the closed off parking lot playing games and getting their faces painted. They particularly enjoyed the hairspray and nail polish booths.
