WARD—Deacon John Peter Klein, business manager of St. William Church in Ward and St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Edgefield, died June 26. He was 72.
The Mass of Christian Burial was held June 28 at St. William and burial will be in Wiltwyck Rural Cemetery in Kingston, N.Y.
Deacon Klein was born on Nov. 6, 1938, in Queens, N.Y., a son of the late John and Frances Blunenroth Klein. He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant during the Vietnam War and was a vice president with Citibank.
He was ordained as a deacon at St. Patrick’s Cathedral by Cardinal John O’Connor on May 24, 1986, and served at St. Joseph’s Church in Kingston.
Locally, he was a former member of the Rotary Club and a former member of The Twaalfskill Club.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Eileen T. Conboy Klein; a daughter, Kerry Ann Klein; granddaughter, Taylor Ann Weiss; and his sister, Joan Sferlazza.
