Father Louis Kennedy, a retired priest helping in the diocese, dies at 80

Fr. KennedyDOUGLASTON, N.Y.—Father Louis J.P. Kennedy, 80, a retired priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn, died Aug. 13 in Douglaston.
The Mass of Christian Burial was held Aug 17 at  Immaculate Conception Center.
Father Kennedy was ordained in 1957 for the Diocese of Brooklyn, New York.
He retired in 2004, after working for 32 years as a parish priest and six years as dean of students and director of pastoral formation at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, Md.
He then received permission from Bishop Thomas V. Daily, Bishop of Brooklyn, to minister in the Diocese of Charleston, S.C.
His pastoral assignments there included pastor of St. Mary Mission in Allendale and St. Andrew Mission in Barnwell for four years, and two years as priest in residence at St. Mary Church in Greenville and as a supply priest at Blessed Trinity Church in Greer.
He is survived by a sister, Grace (Pat) Molluso.
