Bishop Guglielmone announces new assignments for 10 priests

CHARLESTON—Bishop Robert E. Guglielmone announced several priest appointments for the Diocese of Charleston on Jan. 24.
Father Vincent Maroun of the Maronite Diocese of Zahleh, Lebanon, became a supply priest for the diocese effective Jan. 10.
Father Francisco Cruz, the administrator of St. Mark in Newberry, Holy Spirit Mission in Laurens, and St. Boniface in Joanna has left the diocese to minister in the Diocese of Charlotte, N.C., effective Jan. 31.
The following appointments were effective Feb. 4:
Father Donald S. Abbott, pastor of St. Gerard Church in Aiken, assumed the additional responsibility as administrator of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Edgefield.
Father Oscar Borda Rojas moved from administrator of Blessed Trinity in Greer to the replacement ministry for the diocese with residence at St. Gregory the Great in Bluffton.
Father Gustavo Corredor, former parochial vicar for St. John of the Cross Church in Batesburg-Leesville with sacramental priest responsibilities to the Spanish speaking community of St. John Neumann Church in Columbia, is now parochial vicar for Our Lady of the Hills and St. John Neumann churches in Columbia, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Camden, with residence at Our Lady of the Hills.
Father Philip S. Gillespie has moved from parochial vicar of St. Mary Magdalene Church in Simpsonville, to parochial vicar for St. Francis by the Sea on Hilton Head Island.
Father Robert Higgins, pastor of St. Anthony Church in Ridgeland,  St. Anthony Mission in Hardeeville, and St. Mary Mission in Hampton, has begun a personal leave of absence.
Father José Rodolfo Lache-Avila has moved from parochial vicar of Our Lady of the Hills in Columbia and Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Camden, with sacramental priest responsibilities to the Latino community of St. William in Ward, to administrator of St. John of the Cross in Batesburg-Leesville and St. William in Ward.
Father Gerald Lutz, from the Diocese of Pittsburgh, is now administrator of Blessed Trinity in Greer.
Father Noel Tria has moved from administrator of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Edgefield and St. William Church in Ward to administrator of St. Mark in Newberry, Holy Spirit Mission in Laurens, and St. Boniface in Joanna.
