Miscellany wins five SCPA awards

FOLLY BEACH—The Catholic Miscellany won five awards from The South Carolina Press Association recently.

– Deirdre C. Mays won first place for best published photograph, “Do You Long for More?” The judges commented that the photo had “excellent angle and subject placement. Wonderful use of primary and secondary focal points combine to convey strong sense of passion and intensity.”

– Anne E. Clark and Mays won first place for best graphic design, “Thanking God.” The judges stated they ‘loved the concept of hanging the kids art work on the fridge.”

– Christina Lee Knauss won second place for her article, “Caregivers: The Challenge, Rewards and Help.”

– Stephanie S. Stockton won second and third place in best innovative concept for her videosBishop England High Piggy Backing for Guinness World Record” and “ Camporee at Camp Barstow.”

The awards were announced at the association’s annual meeting held March 17 in Folly Beach. The SCPA is a nonprofit organization that represents and serves the state’s daily and weekly newspapers.
