Deacon Gerald Grismore of Stella Maris Church dies at 68

MOUNT PLEASANT—Deacon Gerald “Jerry” Wayne Grismore, a deacon for 23 years, died July 7 at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital. He was 68.

The Mass of Christian Burial was held at Stella Maris Church on Sullivan’s Island on July 13 and burial was in St. Lawrence Cemetery in Charleston.

Deacon Grismore was born on March 26, 1944, in Evansville, Ind., a son of Hazel and George “Bud” Grismore.

He was a deacon at Stella Maris Church. He was also a senior project engineer for Jacobs Engineering in Goose Creek for the past 12 years and at Fluor International in Greenville for 19 years prior.

Deacon Grismore is survived by his mother, Hazel, and step-father, Kenneth, of Evansville; his wife, Patricia, of Mount Pleasant; his children, Michael, of Columbia; Kenneth, of Mount Pleasant; Shawn, of Atlanta; and Jason, of Baton Rouge, La.; his siblings, Steve, of Evansville; and Mike, of Newburgh, Ind.; and nine grandchildren.
