ASTON, PA.—Franciscan Sister Bridget McGoldrick, formerly Sister Camillus, died in Assisi House on Dec. 5. She was 82 and had been a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 61 years.
The funeral was held Dec. 10 in Assisi House. Burial was in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
Sister Bridget was born in Prucklish, Newtownforbes, County Longford, Ireland. She was a graduate of Our Lady of Mercy Convent School. She entered the congregation in 1948 and professed her first vows in 1951.
Sister Bridget earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Md. She ministered primarily in elementary education and in healthcare. She served in the Archdiocese of Baltimore for 21 years, teaching until 1980.
Sister Bridget served for 14 years in the Diocese of Charleston, S.C., where she taught at St. Joseph School in Anderson (1967-1972) and Our Lady of Peace School in North Augusta (1980-1989).
She also taught for three years in the Archdiocese of Washington.
From 1989-2012, Sister Bridget worked and volunteered in healthcare in the Diocese of Wilmington, N.C. During that time she also volunteered at Assisi House, the congregation’s retirement residence in Aston.
In October, she moved to Assisi House and served in prayer ministry until her death.
Sister Bridget is survived by her sisters, Sisters Bernadette and Carmella McGoldrick, Winnifred Mulligan, Josephine Campbell, Elizabeth Bisset, and Pauline Kellegher; her brother, Thomas McGoldrick; nieces and nephews; and her Franciscan family.
