Millard earns three-peat
COLUMBIA—Dakota “Koty” Millard, a recent graduate of Cardinal Newman high, was named to the 2013 National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s High School All- American Team for a third time. He is one of only three athletes in the nation to achieve this honor. Koty is signed to play soccer with the University of South Carolina.

DeSantiago wins scholarship
WALTERBORO—Alondra DeSantiago, a recent graduate of Colleton County High School, was chosen as the recipient of the Father Pentis Scholarship Award, which is given annually by the South Carolina Council of Catholic Women. Alondra will attend Clemson University in the fall and plans to continue on to medical school. She hopes to one day serve the less fortunate in Latin America.

Junior daughters win big
CHARLESTON—The 2013 Knights of Peter Claver Junior National Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., was graced by several young ladies from the Diocese of Charleston. The group is shown above during one of the convention competitions. Leigha Cox won first place in poetry, Callia Cox won first place in science, and Verneshea Moore earned third place in essay writing. Teonna Breland, Tana Johnson and Sabrina Richardson also attended the convention, along with adult members Vertelle Kenion, supreme lady; Tona Jones; and Rebecca Cox. All the girls are junior daughters of Our Lady of Guadeloupe, Court 110 from St. Patrick Church in Charleston.
