On Fire with Faith conference set for Sept. 20-21 in Columbia

COLUMBIA—Come celebrate the faith and expand your formation at the biennial conference, On Fire with Faith, on Sept. 20-21 at Our Lady of the Hills Church, 120 Marydale Lane.

Formerly known as Fire at the Beach, the event is sponsored by the Office of Catechesis and Christian Initiation in the Diocese of Charleston.

General registration is $60 and covers a host of nationally and internationally known keynoters and presenters with expertise in a variety of scriptural, theological, liturgical, spiritual and catechetical fields.

The keynote addresses will be delivered by Father Ronald Rolheiser, OMI, on “Our One Great Act of Fidelity” (the Eucharist), and Adele Gonzalez, who will speak on “The Spirituality of Community” (the multi-cultural Church).

The conference is a celebration for all Catholic adults. This year’s event looks to strengthen the young adult component while also retaining features for adults of all ages.

The conference will begin with prayer at 7 p.m. on Sept. 20, followed by the first keynote address, a social, and a young adult kick-off.

On Sept. 21, Mass will be at 8 a.m. followed by a continental breakfast. Morning prayer begins at 9:15 a.m., followed by the next keynote address. Three rounds of workshops, one in the morning and two in the afternoon, will be interspersed with exhibit time and lunch. The closing liturgy will be celebrated by Bishop Robert E. Guglielmone at 4 p.m.
