Knights visit 3rd Aviation Brigade
HILTON HEAD ISLAND—The Knights of Columbus Assembly 2280 were recently invited by the 3rd Aviation Brigade at Hunter Army Airfield to see their behind-the-scenes operation. They toured various aircraft and were shown some of the weapons used by military personnel. They also had lunch with the troops and enjoyed getting to know some of the soldiers who defend the country.

Stephen Ministers commissioned
SIMPSONVILLE—Father Teofilo Trujillo, pastor of St. Mary Magdalene Church, commissioned the parish’s third class of Stephen Ministers. They now have 18 people trained and a leader team committed to ongoing education and awareness, and identifying and serving parishioners who find themselves going through a difficult time in their lives.

Knights donate to Special Olympics
LAKE WYLIE—Knights of Columbus Council 14475 recently presented a check to the Clover Area Special Olympics for over $4,500 from their Operation Hope drive, conducted outside local area businesses, including Bi-Lo and Food Lion supermarkets in Lake Wylie and Clover, the Lake Wylie Walmart, Bagel Boat, Jersey Mike’s, and Waffle House.

Patti Myers, coordinator for the Clover Area Special Olympics, said the money helps the expansion of ‘Unified Program’ events in Clover schools, defrays the cost of transporting athletes to and from events, and helps purchase uniforms and equipment.

The Special Olympics Unified Program teams intellectually disabled athletes with non-disabled partners to compete in sporting events.
