Tito Guglielmone, bishop’s brother, dies at age 80

CALLICOON, NY—Tito Walter Guglielmone, brother of Bishop Robert E. Guglielmone of the Diocese of Charleston, S.C., died on June 11. He was 80.

Tito GuglielmoneA memorial Mass celebrated by Bishop Guglielmone will be held June 15 at Holy Cross Church in Callicoon.

Guglielmone was born July 13, 1935, in Bronx, to Francesco and Carolina Guiffre Guglielmone. He was a graduate of Center Moriches High School on Long Island, and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from SUNY Albany.

He had a long career in education with the Herricks Union Free School District in Nassau County, Long Island beginning as a history teacher at Herricks High School where he spent 13 years as principal. His last position was as director of curriculum for the five public schools of the district.

Guglielmone also served two years in the U.S. Army in Germany as a member of the Pentomic Marne division.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Buddenhagen Guglielmone; his children, Daniel Herbert Guglielmone of Lloyd Harbor, Karen Virginia Guglielmone of Telluride, Colo., and Lisa Guglielmone Gillis of Chicago, Ill.; his brothers, Bishop Gugilemone, and Nicholas R. Dana; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
