CHARLESTON—The Bishop England High School boys’ swim team won the state title at the AAA State Swim Meet held at the University of South Carolina in Columbia recently.
The girls’ swim team also fared well, claiming second place in the state meet.
Bishop England’s boys won the championship title with 401 points against Academic Magnet, which finished the meet with 374 points.
The girls also earned 401 points, coming in behind rival Academic Magnet, which pulled in a strong 486 points.
Individual team members who helped propel the team to victory in the boys’ meet included Carter Rose, who placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke and fourth in the 200-yard individual medley; Addie Laurencelle, fourth in the 100-yard freestyle and fifth in the 50-yard freestyle; and Joseph Bolchoz, fourth in the 200-yard freestyle.
Also, Cole Mummert earned a silver medal in the 100-yard butterfly while Josh Adams finished sixth, and Noland Griffith took third-place in the 100-yard backstroke.
For the girls’ team, Bella Kissell was the top individual performer, finishing fourth in the 500-yard freestyle and fifth in the 200-yard individual medley.
