SUMMERVILLE—The annual diocesan volleyball tournament was a rousing success over Oct. 21-22, with fierce competition between the 11 schools that sent a total of 15 teams to participate.
In the end, St. Mary’s Lady Ducks from Greenville claimed the championship title in the Senior Gold bracket, beating the St. Francis Wolves of Hilton Head Island.
The Senior Silver bracket was won by St. Mary Help of Christians from Aiken, who edged out Summerville Catholic.
In the junior division, St. Gregory the Great of Bluffton won their championship over St. Mary of Greenville.
Competing volleyball teams came from Blessed Sacrament in Charleston, Nativity on James Island, Summerville Catholic, Divine Redeemer in Hanahan, St. Francis on Hilton Head Island, St. Gregory the Great in Bluffton, St. Mary Help of Christians in Aiken, St. Mary in Greenville, St. Anne in Rock Hill, St. Michael in Murrells Inlet, and St. Andrew in Myrtle Beach.
The tournament was hosted by Summerville Catholic School at Bethany Methodist Church in Summerville.
