During Jesus’ presentation in the temple, we are reminded that the time we spend in prayer and contemplation lead us to true Christian charity as a consequence of a solid interior life. Those who pray and offer penance recognize the Lord in all the way He manifests. They are open to receive the Holy Spirit in them and learn to truly love. Mary’s love for mankind was so great that she, too, fulfilled Christ’s word: “No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (Jn 15:13)
