Mary, the Virgin Mother of God, is crowned in heavenly blessedness with the glory of a Queen. She is called a queen because of her Divine Motherhood and her exceptional role in the work of our eternal salvation. The full and strict royalty belongs to our Lord alone, but Mary’s Queenship is based on her maternal relationship with Jesus, her association with Jesus’ work of redemption, and her royal dignity in heaven that comes from her faith and humility of service.
