Venerating the relics of St. Anthony of Padua

LEXINGTON—Father Ray Carlo told The Miscellany in a recent email that Corpus Christi parishioners enjoyed the relics of St. Anthony of Padua. Previously, he said, he was blessed to concelebrate Mass with the friars in the Basilica of St. Anthony of Padua in Italy, but the relics there were kept behind bulletproof glass and a distance away from where people viewed them. When the relics came to his parish, people were able to touch them, he said.

Thanks was given to Tom Moscatello, a parishioner who helps bring the traveling relics to different dioceses when they come to the United States. Franciscan Father Bortolino Maistrello (pictured), from Padua, Italy, accompanied the relics on the tour.

People were able to venerate St. Anthony of Padua’s relics at 14 parishes in the diocese from April 6-15.
