Franciscan jubilarians served S.C. in nursing, education and parish work

ASTON, Pa.—The Sisters of St. Francis 2018 Jubilee Celebration was held June 10 at Our Lady of Angels Convent. Two of this year’s Diamond Jubilarians, each celebrating 70 years of religious profession, ministered previously in the Diocese of Charleston, S.C. Sister Anna Hope Bauerlin (formerly Sister Miriam) was a staff nurse at St. Mary Human Development Center in Ridgeland, now Lowcountry Human Development Center. Currently, Sister Hope ministers in prayer and hospitality at Assisi House, the congregation’s retirement residence.

Sister Jordan Marie Goeke spent most of her years in ministry as a nurse but she began by teaching at St. Paul the Apostle School in Spartanburg. Currently, she serves in prayer and hospitality ministry at Assisi House.

Also, three of this year’s golden jubilarians, each celebrating 50 years of religious profession, ministered previously in the Diocese of Charleston. Sister Clare Andrew D’Auria served in retreat ministry and as a spiritual director at St. Philip the Apostle Church in Lake City. Currently, she is an associate at the Franciscan Spiritual Center, where she has served since 2009.

Sister Patricia Hutchison (formerly Sister Mary Samuel), was principal at Our Lady of Peace School in North Augusta. Currently, she serves as director of the Neumann Institute for Franciscan Studies at Neumann University. Sister Arlene McDonough served in parish ministry at Our Lady of Peace Church. Currently she is in transition but is serving as chair of the Congregational Chapter 2020 Planning Committee.
