GREENWOOD—Marquetta Goodwine, Queen Quet, chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation, gave presentations on the coastal culture during book giveaways at Our Lady of Lourdes Church and Weston Chapel AME Church on July 14. Goodwine saluted attendees for supporting literacy and interracial understanding. Youth from both churches helped with the event and almost 400 books were distributed thanks to the generosity of Josh Norman’s Starz24 foundation. Goodwine’s presentation was funded by Duke Energy.
