MURRELLS INLET—A mission team from St. Michael Church recently spent a week providing a variety of outreach services to communities in Honduras.
Ellen DeKleva reported that one of the highlights was raising funds, in conjunction with Olancho Aid Foundation (olanchoaid.org), to purchase and begin construction on a water purification system for a large community in Catacamas, Honduras. The team worked alongside people of the community to dig, make rebar, and mix and lay concrete for the water system. It will take over six months to complete.
The group also painted three rooms of a school in Catacamas and delivered food to over 50 families in need.
Team members returned home with a new outlook on mission work and a deeper appreciation of the struggles people face to find clean water for a healthy life.
