Assembly 1900 honors winners of flag essay contest

SUMMERVILLE—Knights of Columbus Assembly 1900 selected its essay contest winners for 2017-2018 on “What the American Flag Means to Me”.  The top three writers received American flag kits and cash prizes of $100, $50 and $50, respectively. They are: Joshua Walker (pictured above), a seventh-grader from Gregg Middle School, who won first place; Abriella Alex (pictured below), a sixth-grader from Dubose Middle School in second place; and Thomas Richard, a seventh-grader from Gregg Middle School, who earned third place but was not present for the awards. The students also participated in the Knights of Columbus flag disposal ceremony conducted by Assembly 1900 officers.

Awards were presented by Fourth Degree Knight Ronald Povero.
