Hibernians, Knights give gift of water

GREENVILLE—Early in June, the Ancient Order of Hibernians received a call from Wine to Water letting the group know that the outreach had donors willing to match funds. Urgent requests were sent to the Hibernians and Knights of Columbus, and they responded with overwhelming generosity. Donations also came from the AOH State Board, The Harp and Shamrock Committee, and the St. Patrick’s Day parade committee for Greenville.  There were also many donations from individual AOH brothers and members of the Knights.

On June 21, the Hibernians traveled to Boone, N.C., to see the operation first hand and deliver the $5,000 check from the donations. Since the group met the deadline to receive a matching donation, the $5,000 turned into $10,000. Tommy Ennis met with the founder of Wine to Water, Doc Hendley, and other members of the nonprofit organization and was impressed with their whole operation. Learn more at www.winetowater.org.
