COLUMBIA—Matthew Binette, a recent graduate of Cardinal Newman School, was named to the United Soccer Coaches High School Scholar All-America Team for the 2018-2019 school year. A total of 104 players received High School Scholar All-America recognition, including 40 male student-athletes and 64 female student-athletes. Selected ninth overall, Binette was one of two young men in South Carolina to obtain the honor. This is the third consecutive year that a member of the Cardinal Newman Men’s Varsity Soccer Team has earned this distinction.
