CHARLESTON—Bishop Robert E. Guglielmone commissioned a group of spiritual directors Nov. 14 at a Mass in the Chapel of the Holy Family.
The group studied for two years and completed their practicum with Spring Hill College. They met with Father Christopher Viscardi once a month at Our Lady of the Hills in Columbia and once a month on Zoom. The second year, during what is primarily a practicum, students meet with people seeking spiritual direction.
The first class included nine people and the second class that began in September has 17 individuals being trained as spiritual directors or mentors. The diocese is thrilled that more Catholics are seeking to be trained and more are seeking to be mentored so that each may grow deeper in their intimate relationship with Jesus.
The diocesan liaisons for the program are Deacon Tom Whelan and Franciscan Sister Kathy Adamski. For more information, contact Sister Kathy at 843-261-0498 or kadamski@charlestondiocese.org.
