Bishop Baker asks for a day of prayer for the diocese and the Catholic Church in America

In conjunction with other prelates throughout the country, Bishop Robert J. Baker has asked that Catholics across South Carolina celebrate a day of prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 7 in preparation for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ national meeting in Dallas June 13-15. The bishop has asked that we consider attending Mass and abstaining from meat on that Friday. During the U.S.-Vatican summit on sexual abuse in April, one of the steps proposed by the American cardinals was to declare a day of prayer and penance throughout the country. At the upcoming gathering in Texas, the bishops will determine an additional day of prayer and penance for our country.
