AIKEN — Registration is underway for the Diocese of Charleston’s 2005 Family Life Conference, “Made in God’s Image: From Womb to Tomb,” at St. Mary Help of Christians Church. Each parish is encouraged to send at least one parish representative to the May 14 conference.
The conference’s keynote speaker, Franciscan Father Paul Williams, will speak on “Eucharist and Life.” Other speakers and their topics will be Dr. Eugene Binet, “Human Life Begins at Conception; A Scriptural Basis”; Drs. Peter and Susanna Bleyer, “The ABC of NFP”; Dr. Mark O’Rourke, oncologist, “Stem Cell Research”; Dr. Martha Shuping, psychiatrist, “Post-Abortion Ministry”; Holly Gatling and Wayne Cockfield, both of S.C. Citizens for Life, “Local and Universal Implications of the Terri Schiavo Case”; and Lisa Militello, “Nurture Pro-Life Youth.”
Workshops on natural family planning resources, spiritual adoption, and post-abortion ministry will be part of the conference.
The conference will begin with Mass at 8 a.m. Registration begins at 8:40 a.m. in St. Angela Hall, and the conference will conclude at 3:15 p.m.
A donation of $10 is requested of each participant to help defray the costs of materials, snacks, and meals.
Registration for the conference is due by May 6. To register send your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, parish name, and a $10 check payable to the Family Life Office to: Family Life Office, c/o St. Mary Help of Christians Church, P.O. Box 438, Aiken, SC 29802. Please indicate a sandwich preference (turkey, ham, or vegetarian). If you will need babysitting services, please note the number of children and their ages.
