SPARTANBURG—Jesus, Our Risen Savior Church is celebrating 30 years of faith and community with a year-long celebration.
The theme is “His Grace, Our Gratitude,” and parishioners are demonstrating the theme with various activities such as an international festival set for May, celebrating the diversity and unity of the Church. Other activities include a talent show for youth, mission week, and a fellowship wine and cheese party.
The Social Awareness Ministry commemorates the celebration of life by partnering with the Carolina Pregnancy Center. Church members have donated baby items to fill the current needs of the center. Alexia Newman, director of the Carolina Pregnancy Center, spoke during Masses to discuss the center’s progress and programs for mothers who are enrolled there.
One of the new programs, called “Earn While You Learn,” allows women to be rewarded for staying in school, keeping doctors’ appointments and attending church. They can shop in the center’s store with “Mommy Money” they’ve earned, and purchase the donated items.
“This has been a wonderful outpouring of generosity of our faith community. This campaign furthers our Catholic belief and tradition of our respect for life,” said Rosemary McLeod, director of social ministry.
