Bishop’s message: Tornado relief

Coat of Arms

Recently, I spoke with Bishop Burbidge from the Diocese of Raleigh and Bishop Baker from the Diocese of Birmingham. Both bishops related the heartache and suffering experienced by their people due to the recent tornadoes that have raged through their dioceses.

Many people, especially in the Birmingham diocese, have lost their lives. Many of them suffered injuries and the devastation of their homes. Since the Raleigh Diocese is our neighbor and the Birmingham Diocese is led by our former bishop, I authorized the contribution of some diocesan funds earmarked for disaster relief to assist these dioceses. However, more help is needed.

Any parish wishing to take up a special collection this month, or any individuals wishing to assist may send offerings to the Diocese of Charleston Finance Office with the annotation:  Tornado Relief for Birmingham and/or Raleigh.

I thank you for your generosity.

+Robert E. Guglielmone, Bishop of Charleston
