Crowning Mary in May

GREENVILLE—St. Joseph’s Catholic School seventh-grader Julia Orlandino places a wreath of flowers on a statue of Mary for the annual May Crowning held May 6. An ancient Catholic custom at the beginning of May, the ceremony honors Mary with offerings of flowers. Representatives from the thirty St. Joseph’s Households all brought flowers to present at the altar. Father Dwight Longenecker, school chaplain, looks on.
