Freelance Reporter

Description: The Catholic Miscellany newspaper seeks freelance reporters to  cover news and feature stories as assigned by the editor. Report on liturgical and other events. Conduct interviews. Hours vary — day, night or weekend.

Freelancers are sought for the following locations: Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, North Augusta, Rock Hill, Myrtle Beach, Florence, Hilton Head Island.

Minimum qualifications: The successful candidate will have knowledge and understanding of Catholic theology and be able to positively represent The Catholic Miscellany newspaper at all times. Reporters must have a superior command of the English language — both verbal and written, with a thorough knowledge of AP style.

Also, freelancers must have the ability to conduct professional interviews and write clear, concise stories that capture the interview and subject matter. The ability to meet deadlines is required. Previous experience in news is preferred. Digital photography skills are a plus.

Salary range: Flat fee per assignment and/or published work.
