CHARLESTON—The St. Katharine Drexel residence for men received its official blessing on Aug. 24.
Father Jeffrey F. Kirby, vicar for vocations, said it was the culmination of months of preparation and renovation.
Bishop Robert E. Guglielmone celebrated Mass at the house chapel with Msgr. Richard D. Harris and Father Kirby. The bishop then blessed each of the rooms and shared dinner with his fellow priests and all 10 of the new residents.
The house is open to males ages 20-35, students or young professionals, who want to live and grow in their faith in a Catholic environment.
The vocations office has also been relocated to the site and Father Kirby has accepted the additional assignment as house director.
