COLUMBIA—Hundreds of Cardinal Newman students danced for “The Greatest Cause on Earth” and raised more than $54,559 for Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital, the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, during an eight-hour dance marathon. The student-led event ran for eight hours in the gymnasium. Students danced, played carnival games and learned a student-choreographed five-minute line dance that they performed at the closing ceremony. They also heard stories from families whose children have been treated at the hospital.
To help raise money, students secured sponsors, held a 5K in a Day social media and drive thru donation event, sold pizza at lunches, held countless bake sales, hosted a pancake breakfast and participated in several give-back nights at local restaurants. Cardinal Newman has raised over $146,000 in the last four years for the Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital.
