GREENVILLE—Affiliates of the South Carolina Conference of Catholic Women are raising money to buy wheelchairs for disabled children — thanks to the Caps of Love program.
For the past year, councils across the state collected plastic bottle caps, which will be sorted by volunteers and shipped to Florida in exchange for money. Caps of Love is a service project of the National Council of Catholic Women, which has advocated the need to recycle plastic and other materials in an effort to be good stewards of the earth. Plastic caps are a different grade of plastic from bottles and can be sold to companies using recycled “post-consumer” plastic to create new products such as shipping pallets, park benches, paint cans and more.
