HILTON HEAD ISLAND—Knights of Columbus Council 10668 presented Karin Van Name with its Catholicity Award on June 21.
The award recognizes a parishioner who embodies the commandment to love your Lord with your heart, soul and mind and your neighbor as yourself.
Van Name, a longtime parishioner of St. Francis by the Sea, was recognized for fostering 80 infants and young children over the past 27 years, some with physical and/or mental challenges. Even at 84, Van Name has no plans of stopping. She said her goal is to reach 100 years of age or at least to foster 100 children.
