CHARLESTON—The girls’ golf team at Bishop England High School snagged their first state championship at the tournament at Black Bear Golf Club in Longs recently.
Kathleen Sumner, a junior, led the Bishops to capture the Class AA title and earned first place in individual rankings.
Also on the All-State team were Kennedy Carroll, Emma Wofford, Kellen Haas and Rachel Tunesi.
Also, the Bishops’ swim teams competed in the AAA State Swim Meet on Oct. 17 at the USC Natatorium, where the girls’ 200 free relay won second place with Adesuwa Emovon, Erin Dukes, Maddie Schilling and Emma Pizzo.
The BE girls placed fourth overall and the boys finished eighth.
