Catholic Charities recognized for flood relief

Catholic Charities of the Pee Dee participated in an event organized by Gov. Nikki Haley’s office, and attended by the governor, to help flood survivors in Horry and Georgetown counties.

The Pee Dee  office provided boxes of food to over 500 people, along with water and cleaning supplies. They were part of an outreach for flood survivors that brought together federal, state, local and non-profit organizations to register people with FEMA and provide needed resources. Participating non-profits included the Salvation Army, Impact Ministries, Horry County Emergency Management, American Red Cross, and more.

Kelly Kaminski, regional coordinator with the Pee Dee office, said the Knights of Columbus from Conway, the Lowcountry Food Bank, and other churches and volunteers, were essential in handing out the food.
