Each year, the South Carolina Council of Catholic Women Greenville Deanery works with the diocesan office of Ethnic Ministries to promote multicultural appreciation and the need for peace around the world at Christmas. Catholic schools in the Greenville deanery are invited to participate and receive a package describing Christmas traditions among different cultures. This year, 70 drawings were submitted and representatives from the Greenville SCCCW judged the entries and selected the final six images.
The winners of this year’s Christmas card project are: Sofia Bourne, Mandy Gordon and Evy Lane, from St. Mary School; Libby Cislo and Anna Nipert from Our Lady of the Rosary School; and John Paton from St. Mary Church’s religious education program.
All participants receive a certificate of appreciation from Bishop Robert E. Guglielmone and Kathleen Merritt, director of Ethnic Ministries. The winners receive the certificate plus a spiritual gift at an award ceremony at their school.
The Greenville SCCCW prints the cards in packages of 12 and sells them for $10 to support their outreach.
