Poor Clare Sister Helen Godfrey dies at age 77

TRAVELERS REST—Poor Clare Sister Helen Godfrey, of the Monastery of St. Clare, died Feb. 12. She was 77.

Sister Helen GodfreyThe Mass of Christian Burial and burial were held Feb. 18 at the monastery.

Sister Helen was born April 8, 1938, in Camden, N.J., the only child of M. Leroy Godfrey and Helen McNulty Godfrey.

She entered the Poor Clares in Bordentown, N.J., on May 15, 1966, and transferred to Greenville on Dec. 8, 1973.

In addition to her Poor Clare sisters, Sister Helen is survived by her cousins, including Carole Buenzle of Haddonfield, N.J.

In lieu of flowers, memorial dona­tions may be made in her name to the Poor Clares at the Monastery of St. Clare, 37 McCauley Road, Trav­elers Rest, SC 29690.
