COLUMBIA—Hundreds of Cardinal Newman students participated in their annual dance marathon and raised almost $24,000 for Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital, the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.
“Danced for the Real Stars” lasted eight hours. Students danced, played games, made crafts, and learned a student-choreographed, five-minute line dance that was performed at the closing ceremony. They also heard stories from Miracle Families whose children have been treated at the hospital. Prior to the event, students secured sponsors, held a pancake breakfast and participated in give-back nights at local restaurants.
This total, combined with amounts raised over the last four years, puts Cardinal Newman at the $169,900 mark for funds raised for the hospital.
