The men and women of the Ancient Order of Hibernians held an Easter Rising commemoration at the Irish memorial on Charlotte Street in Charleston on April 24. The event included speeches and the placing of a wreath. The Rising, also called the Easter Rebellion, was an armed insurrection during Easter Week in April 1916 by Irish republicans to end British rule in Ireland and establish an independent Irish Republic.

ECCO was founded after Hurricane Hugo struck the greater Charleston area in 1989. Now, 25 years later, the organization has grown to help people with medical, dental, financial and personal needs.
The Knights of Columbus Council 10668 volunteered time to cook fish and other foods at a fish fry at St. Francis by the Sea Church on Hilton Head Island, SC.
Each year on Nov. 11, we celebrate our country’s veterans. Over 400,000 service men and women live in South Carolina and represent all branches of the service.
