GREENVILLE—St. Mary School recently hosted a pilgrimage for Catholic middle schools in the upstate.
Around 230 students from St. Mary, Prince of Peace, Our Lady of the Rosary, St. Anthony, St. Joseph’s Catholic in Greenville, St. Joseph in Anderson, and St. Paul the Apostle were in attendance. Students and chaperones gathered in Gallivan Hall to listen to Father Jay Scott Newman talk about mercy, the Holy Door and the Jubilee Year of Mercy invoked by Pope Francis.
From Gallivan Hall, students processed two by two across the campus and through the Door of Mercy located at the bell tower entrance to St. Mary Church. They prayed the Apostles Creed, the Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be for the intentions of the Holy Father.
After prayers, everyone gathered on Francis Field for a picnic.
