COLUMBIA—The rosary altar society from St. Martin de Porres Church held its prayer breakfast on June 4 at the Hilton Garden Inn.
Father Marcin Zahuta, pastor of St. Thomas More Church at the University of South Carolina, spoke on the theme “Rock of Mercy”. Each attendee also wrote a prayer and placed it in the “prayer mercy box”, which was taken to St. Martin de Porres and blessed by Father Michael Okere, administrator.
Participants included Marlene Glover, president of the South Carolina Conference of Catholic Women; Juanita Henry, president of SCCCW’s Columbia deanery; Marion Alexander, rosary altar society president; Deacons Leland Cave and Carl Johnson from St. Martin de Porres; Sister Roberta Fulton, SSMN, principal of St. Martin de Porres School; Yvonne Pygatt and Bernetha Henry, event co-chairs.
