Recording studio in Charleston completed

CHARLESTON—Catholic Radio in South Carolina announces the long-awaited completion of the recording studio to compliment their WLTQ 730 AM radio station. Funded by a private donation from a South Carolina physician and his wife, the studio is located near the campus of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (5 St. Teresa Drive) just off the Savannah Highway in Charleston. Fr. Joseph Romanoski, Pastor of Blessed Sacrament, invited Catholic Radio in South Carolina to use some spare rooms in the priest’s residence for the home of WLTQ’s studio. With a few modest modifications, the accommodations proved to be more than appropriate for recording endeavors.

“The new studio is intended to serve all Low Country parishes, apostolates, and the community in general,” said Gary Towery, President of Mediatrix SC Inc. “Frank Dirks, Marsha Beach, and the South Carolina Catholic Radio Lowcountry Advisory Committee will help us schedule individuals for interviews and announcements which, in deference to the priests at the parish, must be by pre-arranged appointment only.”

Towery continued, “I’d like to thank Father Romanoski, his parish, our Advisory Committee, the donors and our engineers, Michael Steinberg and John Conklin, for all their efforts to provide our Charleston station with a much needed studio, While sincerely recognizing their contributions, I should also recognize another group. Before we could announce the completion of the studio, there was one final aesthetic issue which needed to be addressed. Rita Jones, Karin Eagles and Betty Adams volunteered their labor to sew the studio’s curtains/wall coverings from material donated by S & R Sales of Spartanburg. Their efforts truly completed our studio making it ready to unveil to the public.”

A Grand Opening Celebration for the studio is being planned for later this year. More will be reported on that as schedules are confirmed. In the meantime, the studio will be used for recording and producing Public Service Announcements, short features, and to serve any other Low Country recording needs.
