My brothers and sisters in Christ,
With Christmas fresh on our minds, we start a new year with hearts full of hope and gratitude for all that God has given us. Through Jesus we have been given the gift of eternal life and are called to live as people of faith and mindful stewards while here on Earth.
It is a great blessing to be a witness to the good that so many people do in the name of the Father. I am so thankful for the generosity of South Carolina’s faithful. One of the ways it can be seen is in the 2016 Bishop’s Annual Appeal, which will surpass its goal of $3.75 million. This success is a proof that the message of stewardship — giving as we have been given — has inspired people to help others in need, teach those who would learn, prepare for the future, and share the Word through the important ministries of the Church in our state.
As your shepherd, it is my responsibility to provide an accounting of the diocesan finances. A summary of the 2016 financial statement is provided here, and I encourage you to read the full report on the diocesan website.
Please continue to pray for the Church and know that I will pray for all of you.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
+Most Rev. Robert E. Guglielmone
Bishop of Charleston
