Dominican Sister Mary Elizabeth Premo dies at age 94

SINSINAWA, Wis.—Sister Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Premo, OP, died at St. Dominic Villa on April 30. Her religious name was Sister Marie Camille. She was 94.

The funeral Mass was held at the Dominican motherhouse on May 3, followed by burial in the motherhouse cemetery.

Sister Liz was born Feb. 19, 1923, in Janesville, Wis., the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Gagan) Premo.

She made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican on Aug. 5, 1961, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1966. She taught for 18 years. She also served as a secretary, director of an adult education center, director of religious education, a consultant, and a volunteer. Sister Liz worked in Nebraska, Alabama, the District of Columbia, South Carolina, Illinois, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

In the Diocese of Charleston, S.C., Sister Liz taught at St. Martin de Porres School in Columbia from 1974-1975.

She is survived by a sister, Catherine Premo, and her Dominican Sisters, with whom she shared life for 55 years.
