Our Lady’s Pantry opening in Greenville in August

GREENVILLE—Coming in August, Catholic Charities will open Our Lady’s Pantry in partnership with other community organizations in San Souci and surrounding areas in Greenville to address food insecurity, diabetes, and obesity.

Recently, a dedication ceremony was held to unveil a series of murals at the pantry, and to honor all of those involved in creating the artwork.

Maria Gray, food pantry manager, and Deborah Pickard, art teacher at St. Joseph’s Catholic School, met early this year to plan the art murals, which reflect the vision for Our Lady’s Pantry.

Over several months, students and faculty members from St. Joe’s spent over 100 hours painting 112 canvases that now decorate Our Lady’s Pantry walls. Pickard and five of her art students also designed and painted a beautiful mural at the site.

The dedication ceremony was held recently to honor the school, the Jubilate Arts Guild, the art class students, and Pickard.

Our Lady’s Pantry will offer a wellness program where individuals will choose the food items they prefer and need, and receive individual and family services to attain better health and self-sufficiency.
