Help collect last 50 photos of S.C. Vietnam veterans for Wall of Faces

Veterans Day, celebrated Nov. 11, is a time to honor all those who have served the country in war or peace. The day pays tribute to all veterans — dead or alive — and is a wonderful opportunity to thank living veterans for their sacrifices.

In addition to showing our gratitude to our living veterans, the South Carolina Press Association is also participating in the Wall of Faces project, an effort by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund to find photographs of every veteran whose name is listed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. The Wall of Faces allows family, friends, and fellow veterans to share memories, post pictures and connect with each other.

Since the SCPA joined this effort in 2014, South Carolina newspapers have helped find 528 of the 895 South Carolinians killed in the Vietnam War. The Wall of Faces is still missing 50 photos, and project supporters encourage everyone to participate in finding them. If you have a picture of a loved one or fellow veteran whose name is on The Wall, send it in. Even if the VVMF already has a photo, they encourage people to send in as many pictures as possible.
